Griezmann, 26, was expected to join United last summer, but FIFA's decision to uphold their transfer ban against Atletico ended any hopes of a move. Griezmann penned a new deal, which saw his buy-out clause doubled from £85million to £170m for the summer window alone. With Luis Suarez struggling in front of goal, Barcelona are in the market for a long-term solution in attack. Lionel Messi is still as effective as ever, despite turning 30. Griezmann, 26, is still one of the best strikers around, despite his struggles — and knows La Liga well.
The news would surely be a blow to Jose Mourinho, who is expected to return for the ex-Real Sociedad man in the summer. United are still are striker a light, and want to improve their attacking quality. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic certain to leave in the summer, Mourinho will want someone to ease the goal scoring burden on Romelu Lukaku.
